Source correction comes first in the plan
A leaking pipe, failed appliance or exterior opening needs an appropriate repair. Urgent mitigation may be coordinated while that repair is arranged. Ask who owns each task and how continued entry will be prevented.
Extraction removes accessible water
Extraction equipment deals with water that can be removed from accessible surfaces or materials. It does not by itself prove that wall cavities, underlayment or framing are dry. The assessment determines which areas need more investigation.
Drying should have a measurable goal
Ask what materials will be checked and how readings will be recorded. Equipment selection and placement should reflect the findings and safe power arrangements. Duration varies with the assembly and conditions; a calendar promise is not a substitute for documented progress.
Repairs follow the material decisions
Some finishes may be retained; others may require removal. Ask why, and confirm who approves that work. Plan replacement, painting and other finish work around documented drying and any necessary specialist assessment.
Collect a completion packet
Request the agreed scope, change approvals, drying records, invoices and remaining repair list. Those documents help you understand what was done and give later contractors or your insurer a consistent record.
